I founded Rain On Me, in 2018, after living with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, OCD, PTSD and ADHD for over a decade. I wanted to meet people who would understand me and reassure me that I was not alone in my struggles. Of course, as more people started attending, I realised how badly everyone else needed this sense of community as well.

And now, Rain On Me provides a safe, confidential space for adults aged 18-35 to vent distress and explore their personal development. We provide free International (online) and London peer support meetings (in-person) where individuals can build resilience and share how they feel without fear of judgment. Our support group received a Marsh Award in the ‘Overcoming Barriers’ category by Mind, at PeerFest 2022.

We provide befriending sessions for individuals who have severe social anxiety or don’t feel ready to share in a group setting. We offer workshops and support groups to schools and universities so students can have a space for self-care and reflection during their busy, often stressful day to day schedule. In addition to this, Rain On Me sponsors therapy for individuals who are on long NHS waiting lists and can’t afford it otherwise.

Many individuals who attend our group feel isolated and have been diagnosed with a mental health condition (although this is not required to join the group). However, most people just use our safe space for mental maintenance and community. We welcome anybody who needs to vent their mental distress and wants a place where they feel unconditional acceptance.

We talk about different topics and use therapeutic arts to raise self-awareness, encourage acceptance and change. We listen to you and empower you to make your own decisions. There is no pressure to participate in the exercises or speak if you don’t want to. We want you to feel accepted and safe enough to be yourself without any fear of judgment or consequence.

A regular attendee shares, “This support group has helped me in my fight against depression.

I never thought that I would find a group where I would be so welcome and understood. Each week the sessions help me take the next step towards overcoming my depression.….”

I think peer support is so important because most people just want to feel like they belong, that they’re accepted by others.

The NHS is struggling right now, everyone has to do their part to be there for each other. In spaces like these, you realise that other people’s lives are just as complex as your own. You don’t have to suffer quietly by yourself, we can work together and cheer each other on.

To anyone who needs to hear this, I know it can be scary to take the first step and reach out for support. But it is the bravest thing you’ll ever do. We’re here to listen to you and remind you of the strength you already have within you, even if you don’t feel it right now.

We look forward to welcoming you whenever you feel ready.
