! OUR #1K1CALL 2025 IS LAUNCHING !
A huge thank you to ALL who participated in our #1K1CALL 2024. We are humbled by the numbers of those who took time to do a short 1km activity – but more importantly, they made that call to someone and checked in with them.
#1K1CALL 2025
We are thrilled to launch this year’s #1K1CALL 2025 campaign.
It has two very simple objectives.
> to get you moving and active for your own mental and physical well-being
> to encourage and empower you to reach out to someone you know and check in with them
We are inviting you to pledge to participate in our #1K1CALL 2025 campaign.
We aim to have 1000 pledged calls by July 20th 2025.
Why this date?
It would have been Cal’s 28th birthday and we simply feel if more people made these calls – Cal may still be with us today!
What Do I Need To Do?
It’s very simple:
Plan your activity for the 1km part of our campaign. You can run; walk; swim; cycle; dance; frog-jump…whatever gets you moving. Even better – why not do this with friends; family; work colleagues or your local community neighbours. Our #1K1CALL 2025 downloadable pack has loads of ideas and guidance.
Get moving on your activity. Have fun and know that any physical movement has a positive impact and benefit on your own mental health and well-being.
This is the true objective of our campaign. Make that all-important call to someone you feel may be suffering in silence or is just finding life a little challenging right now. These calls can literally save lives. Our #1K1CALL downloadable pack has tips and guidance on how to make that important call.
We will only start to reduce the numbers of those who reach the darkest of moments and consider suicidal intentions if we all take a more pro-active responsibility to reach out and check in with those around us. We will send you a hearty and glorious virtual hug if you can simply share your participation in our #1K1CALL campaign. You could simply say: I pledged and participated in The Calzy Foundation #1K1CALL 2025 campaign.
WHY WE NEED TO DO THIS!

Over the course of a lifetime, 1 in 5 people have suicidal thoughts, 1 in 14 people will self-harm, and 1 in 15 people will attempt suicide.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young males in the UK and the rise in death by suicide of females under 24 yrs is the highest since records began.

1 in 6 working-age adults have symptoms associated with mental ill health. Around 51% of long term sick leave is due to stress, depression or anxiety.

It is too often those closest to us who suffer in silence – primarily due to stigma around talking and opening up about our mental health.

We could all do with being a little more active once in a while – so get your running shoes on; your trunks out or dust down that old bike from the shed!.
