As part of Mental Health Awareness week in May (13-19th), The Calzy Foundation will once again launch their annual #1k1call campaign – aimed at raising awareness of the importance of reaching out to our friends, peers, family, colleagues or neighbours and simply checking in with them.

Throughout Mental Health Awareness Week – The Calzy Foundation will be promoting the global #1k1call campaign in preparation for the key date of the campaign: 20th July 2024.

Global #1k1call: 20th July, 2024

On the 20th July this year – it would have been the 27th birthday of our son, Cal – who sadly took his own life in 2021 – aged just 23yrs old.

Cal’s father, Alan will have been running 20km every week for 20 weeks leading up to his birthday – partly for his own mental well-being – but with the aim of raising awareness regarding better and more impactful support around mental health in young adults.

On the 20th July, Alan will run the last full 20km on that day – and we are asking people around the world to support him by doing 1k and making 1 call on that day.!

For the 1km – you can run, walk, swim, dance, cycle – you can even drive – wherever you are and at any time that day! For the one call – we simply ask you to reach out to a friend; family member; neighbour – check-in with them to see how they are.

Calls like this can be the lifeline to someone in need or quietly suffering mental health crisis. Your call can literally save a life!

So that we can shout to the world that so many people REALLY do care about reaching out and checking in with friends, family, neighbours, peers or colleagues – please register your participation here and share on your own social channels. Your support literally means the world to us.

Cal would be smiling!
